Rain to end early morning, mainly dry Thursday

Hours of soaking rain Friday afternoon and Saturday

PORTLAND, Oregon — A Winter Weather Advisory is up until 11 am Thursday above 4,000 feet in the Cascades, for 2 to 5 inches of new snow. Passes show partial snow cover early this morning.

Overnight rainfall will end early this morning as warmer air moves in.  Thursday’s temperatures climb into the mid-60s. The afternoon will be partly sunny and pleasant.

Friday begins dry but ends wet.  Rain will arrive into the Salem and Portland around the noon hour or shortly after.  Once the rain begins, steady rain will fall into the night and much of Saturday.  Sunday's forecast is drier, but showers will be likely.

Friday afternoon snow level will be near 5,500 feet, but the snow level will lower to 4,000 feet Friday night and hold Saturday. Travelers should expect pass level snow at times.  Heavy snow is projected at 5,000 feet and higher Friday overnight and Saturday with amounts easily reaching a foot  and higher.

Showers continue to start next week. There’s a chance for warmer and dry weather starting next Thursday.
