Next season could be Kobe Bryant's last with Lakers

Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant could be going into his final season with the team.

In a radio interview Thursday, Los Angeles Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said the 2015-16 season will be guard Kobe Bryant's last with the team.

Speaking on SiriusXM NBA Radio, Kupchak said "he has indicated to me that this is it."

Bryant, who played just 41 games combined in the past two seasons because of knee and shoulder injuries, hasn't said publicly if he's going to retire. He is scheduled to make $25 million next season.

"I think first and foremost, he's on the last year of a deal," Kupchak said in the radio interview. "There have been no discussions about anything going forward. I don't think there will be.

"A year from now, if there's something different to discuss, then it will be discussed then."

On Twitter, Bryant, 36, reemphasized that his future after next season is undecided.

Kupchak reiterated that Bryant is still involved in recruiting free agents, and said he doesn't believe the uncertainty of the future Hall of Famer's future plans would be a hindrance to luring top-tier talent to Los Angeles.

"If there is a player out there like that, that won't come here for that reason, then we don't want them," Kupchak said. "Every great player is demanding and focused, and if you don't want to play for a guy like him that's driven to do nothing but win championships and work hard, then you shouldn't be here. You should go someplace else."
