Man arrested for deadly shooting in Northeast Portland

The shooting happened shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday in the area of Northeast Weidler Street and 3rd Avenue.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A man was found dead after a reported shooting early Sunday morning in Northeast Portland, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) reported.

Portland police identified the victim as 45-year-old Bruce O. Glass. His family has been notified of his death. On Tuesday, officers arrested and placed in custody 54-year-old David L. Carter on charges of second-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm.

Officers had initially arrested Carter on drug and gun charges when detectives connected him to the deadly shooting of Glass several days earlier, according to PPB.

Around 4:10 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to the area of Northeast Weidler Street and 3rd Avenue, near a 7-Eleven just blocks away from Moda Center and found a dead man at the scene later identified as Glass. 

Homicide and forensic detectives from PPB investigated for several hours.

Glass' family has been notified of the arrest, according to PPB.
