Police identify man killed in shooting at Woodburn food mart

Noel Orozco Romero died in a shooting at Mega Foods on June 4, Woodburn police said. Officers took the suspect into custody.

WOODBURN, Ore. — Woodburn police have identified a man who was killed after a shooting on Mega Foods on June 4 in the afternoon. The suspect was arrested on the same day.

On Wednesday, three days after the deadly shooting, police identified the victim as Noel Orozco Romero, 39. Woodburn police did not specify whether he was a worker, a customer or a bystander.

Officers were called to the deadly shooting at the store on Mount Hood Avenue around 4:00 p.m. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Woodburn police said. Police arrested the suspect, but have not identified them. Woodburn police did not initially say whether the suspect and the victim knew each other.

Police do not believe there are any additional suspects or any ongoing safety threat to the community.

The Marion County District Attorney’s Office is leading the investigation.
