Peanut butter

Corrections & Clarifications:An earlier version of this article misstated what products were affected by the recall. Only Trader Joe's raw almond butters are part of the recall.

Butters are being recalled from Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and other grocers because of a possible Salmonella contamination.

nSpired Natural Foods is voluntarily recalling its Arrowhead Mills peanut butter, MaraNatha almond butters and other brands of the nut butters, according to a release from the Food and Drug Administration.

The company was notified of four illnesses possibly related to these products, the FDA says.

Salmonella causes people to suffer from diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About 42,000 cases are reported in the USA each year, the CDC says.

Consumers of the recalled products should throw away the product and call the company at 1-800-937-7008 for a replacement or refund.
