8:25 p.m.

  • The state of Oregon does not differentiate between who died from COVID-19 and who died with COVID-19 and has no plans to change their system. Meanwhile, Washington changed how they count COVID-19 deaths earlier during the pandemic. Learn more
  • Seven COVID-19 safety complaints have been made about the landmark Tip Top Tavern in Vancouver. The owner figured it was safer to temporarily close now than risk fines or a license suspension. Learn more
  • Hector Rojas, an undocumented immigrant, said he lost his job when he stayed home from work because he believed he caught COVID-19. He's now benefiting from the Oregon Worker Relief Fund, which fills a gap and provides temporary financial relief for people who've lost wages due to the pandemic and aren't eligible for public benefits due to their immigration status.   • Oregon lawmakers gathered in Salem Monday morning for the second special session of the summer of 2020. This one is to fill a budget hole of a billion dollars over the next year. Learn more

12:30 p.m.

  • Oregon health officials reported Monday that one more person has died due to COVID-19, raising the state's death toll to 357. Oregon Health Authority also reported 227 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 21,499. Learn more

12:15 p.m.

  • During a press briefing Monday morning, Multnomah County Health Officer Dr. Jennifer Vines said there's still no evidence that large protests are driving the spread of COVID-19, encouraged people to wear masks indoors except when they're in their own homes, and said she's heard nothing about a potential move to Phase 2 for the county. Vines also said the large religious gathering over the weekend on the waterfront, where most in attendance didn't wear masks or social distance, is "concerning." She said there's potential that the event could have spread the virus. Learn more

11:15 a.m.

8 a.m.

  • Hundreds gathered Saturday at the Portland waterfront, without masks, to see controversial worship leader Sean Feucht, a controversial worship leader and political activist who has held similar crowded outdoor services on the beaches in California in defiance of coronavirus restrictions there. Learn more
  • Oregon seafood groups are rallying to support those struggling in the fishing industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. "It affected the business as a whole in the community, because fishing is the largest industry," Taunette Dixon said. Learn more
  • Over the weekend, Oregon health officials reported 17 more COVID-19 deaths and 1,062 more cases. On Friday, OHA reported 9 deaths and 423 cases. On Saturday, OHA reported 7 deaths and 376 cases. On Sunday, OHA reported 1 death and 263 cases. Oregon now has 21,272 known cases of COVID-19 and the state's death toll is 356. Learn more
