Police arrest two drivers, issue 22 citations during street racing crackdown

Portland police officers made 28 vehicle stops during the daylong mission on Sunday.

PORTLAND, Ore — Portland police on Sunday arrested two drivers and issued 22 citations during a crackdown on street racing.

Officers made 28 vehicle stops during the daylong mission.

Police said at one point during the day they learned of a reckless driver in the Swan Island area who crashed into a parked car and nearly hit several pedestrians. Officers arrived and people began to scatter and flee the area.

The suspected reckless driver sped away and was not located, but the police bureau released video of the person hoping tips from the public will help investigators identify them.

Anyone with information on the driver is asked to call Portland police.

Police arrested a different driver who fled the area. Raymond L. Grant, 34, was charged with attempting to elude an officer, reckless endangering and reckless driving.

Police also arrested an unnamed suspect on an outstanding warrant for reckless driving.
