Man shot, killed in Southeast Portland's Lents neighborhood

The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

PORTLAND, Ore. — A man suffered critical injuries in a shooting in Southeast Portland's Lents neighborhood Wednesday morning.

Police were called just after 10 a.m., to the report that a man had been shot in the 8400 block of Southeast Ellis Street. The victim was identified as 39-year-old James Richardson.

Officers at the scene found Richardson with what appeared to be a gunshot injury, police said. Emergency responders provided medical care at the scene and Richardson was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

No suspect information was available. Police are continuing the investigation and warned that some side streets in the area will be closed.
