Sisters killed after car veers across center line on North Greeley Avenue

A sedan crossed the center line and collided with an SUV, police said. The driver and passenger of the sedan both died in the crash.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Two sisters were identified as victims killed in a North Portland crash on Wednesday morning.

Ana Moreno-Hernández and her sister Kaylee Moreno-Hernández were identified in a Facebook post from De La Salle North Catholic High School where Ana had graduated in 2018. Kaylee was a 9th grader at Central Catholic High School, according to the post.

On Wednesday, a sedan traveling southbound on North Greeley Avenue, just south of Going Street, crossed the center line and collided with a northbound SUV, Portland police said.

The driver and passenger of the sedan both died in the crash.

The driver of the SUV remained at the scene, cooperated with investigators, and was not cited. Police said he was released from the scene after answering the investigation questions.

North Greeley Avenue was closed for several hours after the crash.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for the sisters to help with funeral services that are scheduled for Tuesday, May 28 at Holy Cross Catholic Church on 5227 N Bowdin Street.

Services will be held on Tuesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church. A viewing and vigil with the family will be at 8:30 a.m., followed by a rosary at 10 a.m. and a mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m.

De La Salle North Catholic High School will be closed Tuesday to allow students, families, and staff to attend the services.

Anyone who witnessed this crash is asked to call Traffic Investigator Garrett Dow at 503-823-5070.

Correction: An earlier version of this article stated that Central Catholic High School would be closed on Tuesday. The school will be open Tuesday.
