Downed trees, power outages in Washington County after storm blows through area

People on social media shared photos of trees down across streets and yards.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ore. — A wind storm that blew through Washington County early Saturday evening left knocked down trees and left thousands of people without power for hours.

The storm moved in after 5 p.m. More than 4,500 Portland General Electric customers were without power in Washington County for a couple hours. Power was restored for most people by 9 p.m.

The storm is expected to die down as the evening goes on. Earlier in the day, lightning struck a tree in Eugene and set it on fire.
