About the Thunder

Oklahoma City forward Paul George, who has been playing through shoulder soreness, said his shoulder is "pain-free" after Monday's practice. In Game 1, George scored 26 points but made only 8 of 24 shots from the field, including 4 of 15 from 3-point range. ... In Game 1, the Thunder shot 39.8% from the field and 15.1% from the 3-point line. During the regular season, Oklahoma City shot 45.4% from the field and 34.8% from the 3-point line, and in four games against Portland, the Thunder shot 46.5% and 39.1%, respectively. ... Oklahoma City pushed the ball in Game 1, with 21.7% of their offensive possessions ending in transition, up from 19.7% during the regular season. In the first weekend of the playoffs, only the Bucks ran more, with 23.6% of their possessions in transition. The Thunder scored 0.92 points per transition possession in Game 1, well below their regular-season average of 1.05 points per possession on those plays.

About the Trail Blazers

Portland had a dominant first quarter in Game 1, racing out to 39 points and a 14-point lead that reached 19 points early in the second quarter. But the Blazers' performance over the final three quarters showed room for improvement. After the first quarter, Portland shot 41.5% from the field and 26.6% from the 3-point line. ... Another area the Blazers can improve after Game 1 is turnovers and defensive rebounding. Portland turned the ball over 19 times and allowed the Thunder to grab 18 offensive rebounds. During the regular season, the Blazers averaged 13.8 turnovers and opponents averaged only 10.3 offensive rebounds per game against Portland. In four regular-season games against the Thunder, Portland averaged 14.8 turnovers and allowed 10.8 offensive rebounds. ... Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard had 30 points in Game 1 and shot 42.9% from the field (9-21) and 45.5% from the 3-point line (5-11). All were improvements over his career playoff averages. In 36 playoff games, Lillard has averaged 24.1 points and shots 40.1% from the field and 34.5% from the 3-point line.
