ROSEBURG, Ore. — Police are searching for an "armed and dangerous" suspect in a fatal shooting on Interstate 5 in southern Oregon on Sunday afternoon.

The shooting happened around noon on southbound I-5, just south of the Harvard Avenue exit (milepost 124) in Roseburg.

Police say a man driving a late-model silver four-door sedan with no license plates, possibly a Ford, shot a man in a beige Honda Accord while both cars were moving, and then continued driving south on I-5.

The victim was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg, where he was pronounced dead.

A witness told police the driver was a man in his 30s wearing a red baseball hat.

Oregon State Police is asking for help from anyone anyone who may have seen an altercation between the suspect's sedan, the victim's Honda, and possibly a third vehicle. The three vehicles were observed traveling westbound on Harvard Avenue just east of the freeway, then turning onto the southbound on-ramp to I-5.

If anyone sees a vehicle or person who matches the description of the suspect or his vehicle, they are asked to call 911 and not attempt contact.

Oregon State Police said they consider the suspect "armed and dangerous."

Anyone who witnesses the shooting is asked to call Oregon State Police at 800-442-2068 and refer to Case No. SP19095157.
