Police investigating multiple cat deaths, reports of animal abuse near King City

Two cats are dead and police are investigating multiple incidents of animal abuse near a mobile home park in the King City area.

KING CITY, Ore. — Two cats are dead and police are investigating multiple incidents of animal abuse near a mobile home park in the King City area.

On Saturday, Heather Taylor, who lives at the King Village mobile home park, located at 12450 Southwest Fischer Road, called police after she found her cat covered in mud, with a damaged eye and a string wrapped tightly around its neck.

"What happened with her couldn't have happened with an animal, it had to be a person," Taylor said. "It could get worse from there. People usually start with animals and move up from there."

Taylor told police another cat was found in the same area several weeks ago with intentional ink pen markings on its fur.

On Sunday, a cat was found dead in a park next to the mobile home park. And Monday, a dead cat was found near the intersection of Southwest Fischer Road and 123rd Avenue.

Taylor, who said she's lived in the mobile home park for more than three years, said there are a lot of children in the neighborhood and now she fears for their safety.

"I don't feel comfortable letting my kids go outside by themselves anymore," she said.

"Who does something like this?" asked Stephen Mitchell, Taylor's fiance. "Someone who needs serious help, serious help."

Deputies say the third cat could have been hit by a car but they are worried it may be linked to the other incidents.

Necropsy results on the dead cats are pending.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 503-846-2500.
