Gresham man shot to death at SE Portland apartments; suspect arrested

The suspect, 38-year-old Nathan Moore, was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail. He faces a murder charge and a charge of unlawful use of a weapon.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police arrested a man accused of murdering a Gresham man in the parking lot of the Court Louise Apartment in Southeast Portland on Monday morning.

The suspect, 38-year-old Nathan Moore, faces a murder charge and a charge of unlawful use of a weapon.

Police on Tuesday identified the victim as 41-year-old Dominique S. Eivers.

Officers were sent at 5:49 a.m. to 13059 SE Powell Blvd. on reports of a disturbance. Police found blood on the ground in the north parking lot of the apartment complex.

Investigators interviewed several people who said they heard either gunshots or a car backfiring. They then saw an apparently injured man walking toward Southeast 131st Avenue and Powell Boulevard.

Police learned that a citizen had driven Eivers from there to a hospital, where he died. The state medical examiner determined Eivers died of a gunshot wound.

As the investigation continued into the afternoon, a neighbor said she worried that the victim may have come from an apartment near hers.

“We’re just mainly worried at this point that the person that passed away at the hospital is the person from the apartment,” said Sierra Peterson. "We’re not sure but since they don’t have an identity that it’s one of our neighbors that we know."
