Nike raids Coca-Cola for a new Jordan Brand president, gives Miller new role

The company said Tuesday that Coca-Cola executive Craig A. Williams will become the division's president, replacing Larry Miller. Miller will become chairman for the new Jordan Brand Advisory Board.

Nike Inc. (NYSE: NKE) has made a sweeping change to its Jordan Brand leadership team.

The company said Tuesday that Coca-Cola executive Craig A. Williams will become the division's president, replacing Larry Miller. Miller will become chairman for the new Jordan Brand Advisory Board.

Williams also logged time as president of The McDonald's Division Worldwide, according to a Nike release.

“His experience driving global strategy and growth will help continue to build a premium brand that connects deeply with consumers," said Elliott Hill, Nike’s consumer and marketplace president, in the release.

Williams further spent time in key positions at Kraft and also logged five years with the U.S. Navy as a naval nuclear power officer.

The release included a quote from Michael Jordan himself.

“It’s a unique moment to bring on a talented leader like Craig and to also be able to retain the knowledge, passion and guidance of a seasoned leader like Larry,” Jordan stated. “Larry has helped guide Jordan Brand to long term momentum and helped reset us for the next phase of global growth. We are incredibly grateful for his leadership and I am confident that his knowledge, in partnership with Craig’s vision, will continue to expand the Jordan Brand’s market leadership.”

Miller has served in the president's role since 2012, returning to Nike after six years as the Portland Trail Blazers president.

He's credited with "building and expanding the brand both domestically and around the world." The Jordan Brand debuted in 1997.
