PORTLAND, Ore. — Firefighters knocked down a fire involving multiple vehicles at a North Portland truck repair business Friday afternoon.
Fire investigators said workers at Dave's Truck Maintenance and Repair were dismantling a fuel tank when they accidentally started the fire. All proper equipment and precautions were followed.
The fire sent a large plume of black smoke into the sky over Portland.
No buildings were damaged.
A hazardous materials team arrived at the scene to stop any potential chemicals in the area from spreading.
Firefighters said traffic will be affected in the area and drivers should use alternate routes.
