Two Oregon wines were served to French President Emmanauel Macron.

The White House released the menu for the State Dinner listing both a 2015 Evenstad Reserve Chardonay from Domaine Serene and a Domaine Drouhin Pinot Noir Laurene 2014.

Here is how the White House described the selection of the wines: The wines were selected to complement the menu and embody the historic friendship between the United States and France, which dates back to the American Revolution.

The Domaine Serene Chardonnay “Evenstad Reserve” 2015 is the product of American and French collaboration—a combination of French plants from Dijon that thrive in the volcanic Oregon soil and colder temperatures. The wine was aged in 40 percent French oak barrels for more than 12 months.

The Domaine Drouhin Pinot Noir “Laurène” 2014—This wine uses the motto “French soul–Oregon soil.” The grapes at Domaine Drouhin are harvested and sorted by hand and fermented in French Oak barrels.

This is the first state dinner between President Trump and President Macron.

Grace Evenstad Co-Founder and owner of Domaine Serene had this reaction to the news.

"We are honored to have our 2015 Domaine Serene Evenstad Reserve Chardonnay, from the Dundee Hills of Oregon, selected to be served at the State dinner with French President Macron and his wife, Brigitte.

We have been producing Chardonnay solely from plant material developed in Burgundy, France since 1997, and we think that President Macron will like the style of the wine.

Our Domaine Serene Evenstad Reserve Chardonnay has received many honors - including being named the Best White Wine in the World by Wine Spectator in their Top 100 list from 2016. This is the fourth time one of our wines has been selected and served at the White House. Seeing our wine enjoyed as a representation of our country's finest is always a special treat."

The Oregon Wine Board was also excited about having two Oregon wines served at the State Dinner.

Oregon’s wine grape growers and winemakers are delighted anytime our wines are showcased on the international stage, especially in this case where the French delegation will get to celebrate a collaboration of two winemaking cultures. The two wines they’ve chosen are great examples of the longstanding winemaking expertise shared across Burgundy and Oregon.
