Minivan crashes into man, home in Washington County

The driver told investigators she had some kind of malfunction with her vehicle

PORTLAND, Ore. – A 72-year-old man was seriously injured after he was hit by a van Friday morning in Washington County.

The man is expected to survive, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

Video shows the man was walking on a sidewalk when the van failed to make a turn in the residential neighborhood and hit the man, throwing him onto the hood of the vehicle. The minivan continued a short distance before crashing into a home in the 13000 block of Northwest Greenwood Drive in Portland.

The driver told investigators she had some kind of malfunction with her vehicle. Deputies said there is no evidence of distracted driving or DUI. The driver was not issued a citation.
