Friends remember Camas woman found dead; police still looking for suspect

Guitron loved her three children, was a staple in the Camas community, and her cooking was perhaps louder than her voice

CAMAS, Wash. – Sitting around a table at Natalia’s Café, three friends and fellow co-workers remember a dear friend.

Sunday, the body of 35-year-old Luz Guitron was found inside her Camas home. Camas Police believe her long-term boyfriend 38-year-old Guillermo Juarez killed her, then fled the area. Police are still looking for him, and say there is no immediate danger to the public.

“It was fun to be colleagues and work and laugh,” said friend and coworker Cheryl Krohnert. "I think the think that stood out to me the most about Luz was her gentleness. She was kind."

She says Guitron loved her three children, was a staple in the Camas community, and her cooking was perhaps louder than her voice

“She would cook at Natalia’s, she would cook at Camas Days,” said Krohnert. “She would be part of the Vancouver Market. She was the quiet one, and a hard worker. She just worked so hard all the time.”

Friends know the answers will come in time, but for now, they want to remember their friend, and honor her memory.

“She was perpetually happy,” said friend and co-worked Wendy DelBosque. “She always had a smile on her face. She was fun to be around.”

“She lived her life to the fullest, her pictures share that,” said Natalia's Cafe owner Erica Slothower. “Her kids got to experience a lot of wonderful things that most kids their age don't get to ever experience.”

“Camas is a very close knit community,” said Krohnert. “She’s such an integral part of our community there will be a hole.”

The focus, now, is also on making sure Guitron's three children are cared for. There are two GoFundMe pages to help with that.

One is set up thanks to the owner of Natalia's.

The other is thanks to the Camas Equestrian Team.
