Cornelius stabbing suspect arrested for attempted murder

CORNELIUS, Ore. – A man who police said stabbed another man outside a Cornelius Fred Meyer on Friday has been arrested after police received a tip that the suspect was in Hillsboro.

Samuel Lund was taken into custody on Wednesday, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Lund, 29, was booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and parole violation. He is being held on $252,500 bail.

Deputies said Lund stabbed a 33-year-old man near the garden center entrance of the Fred Meyer, located at 2200 E Baseline St. The stabbing was reported at around 5:45 a.m. The victim suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Authorities believe Lund and the victim know each other.
