New health clinic opens up inside Portland International Airport

Visitors can meet with a medical professional virtually on a screen from 7am-9pm.

Talk about convenient!

Providence Health has set up an Express Care clinic inside Portland International Airport. Providence has 14 Express Care facilities, but this is the first one inside the airport.

If travelers aren’t feeling so great, no problem. Visitors can meet with a medical professional virtually on a screen from 7am-9pm.

The clinic also has a lot of over the counter options. It's got everything from allergy medication to Advil.

“[It’s] one that features the largest over the counter pharmacy of any airport that I know of,” said David Ray, Director of On Demand Operations and Strategy for Providence.

Ray said the products sold at the Express Care in the airport will cost about the same as any other retailer. Airport staff said in some cases, products are even being sold for less than other stores.

Lynelle Shaffer stopped in to check out the new clinic before her hours-long flight to Arizona.

“I have a cold right now so it's nice to be able to get something if you need it before you get on your flight,” said Shaffer.

Providence has partnered with nearly 30 insurance providers. A spokesperson said they’re working to partner with more.

If your insurance isn't on the list, the virtual consultation is $49 for a roughly 20-minute visit.

To find out if a specific insurance provider is partnered with Providence, you can visit virtual.providence.org and check out the ‘FAQ’ section.

Anyone with a smartphone can also download the Express Care Virtual app. It allows anyone to meet with a medical professional through their smartphone.
