WOODBURN, Ore. – A heavy police presence closed off an area of downtown Woodburn on Thursday afternoon after a robbery suspect left a suspicious object appearing to be a bomb behind.
The suspect has not been found. He did not display a gun during the robbery. The suspect is described as a 6-foot tall white man with green-hazel eyes. He was wearing a dark gray hoodie and a neon yellow reflective construction-like vest, among other layers of clothing.
The suspect walked into La Caseta De Tarjeta, a currency exchange business near Grant and Front Streets, and pressed a sign that said "give me all the money or I'll shoot you" against a glass window, a witness said. When the employee said there was no money, the suspect threw an object on the ground and ran out of the business.
Police closed off the area for hours. An Oregon State Police bomb squad arrived and determined the object was not dangerous. Police reopened the area around 2 p.m.
Anyone with information should call Woodburn Police at 503-982-2345.
