GRESHAM, Ore. – A TriMet bus driver was arrested for DUII early Tuesday morning in Gresham, police said.

A Gresham police officer on patrol noticed a TriMet bus speeding on Southeast Stark Street near 205th Avenue at 12:36 a.m.

The bus driver, 55-year-old Lamont Biggs of Portland, showed signs of impairment during the traffic stop, police said.

Biggs was arrested and the bus was released to a TriMet supervisor.

There was one passenger on the bus during the traffic stop. The person left and was not identified.

Police called paramedics for Biggs due to medical concerns. Officers cited Biggs for DUII and released him because they said his medical condition prevented him from being lodged in the Multnomah County Jail.

In a statement, TriMet said an internal investigation is underway and if the allegation is found to be accurate, it could be cause for termination.

Biggs is on administrative leave, TriMet said.
