LONGVIEW, Wash. — A 14-year-old boy was arrested Monday night after allegedly stabbing his grandmother in the neck with a large kitchen knife.

Officers arrived at a home in the 800 block of Stella Road, about four miles west of Longview, at 8 p.m. Monday, after the victim's brother called to report his sister, 59-year-old Sharon Hesseldahl, had been stabbed by her grandson.

When officers arrived, the suspect was standing in the living room and not moving while the brother tried to help the victim. The teen was arrested and is being held at the juvenile detention facility in Longview for first-degree assault.

Investigators with the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office say the suspect was arrested previously for stabbing his mother. The name of the boy is not being released at this time.

Hesseldahl was taken to St. John Medical Center in Longview. She went into surgery but as of Tuesday morning, was out of surgery and stable.
