PORTLAND, Ore. – A motorcyclist died early Tuesday morning in a crash involving two other vehicles on Southeast Powell Boulevard.

The 2:40 a.m. crash involving two other vehicles closed Powell from 138th to 143rd avenues until about 6:30 a.m.

A preliminary investigation leads police to believe the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on his Harley-Davidson on Powell. Witnesses said he had been speeding, passing vehicles and riding in the oncoming lane.

When he got to 141st Avenue, he hit an oncoming GMC pickup turning southbound onto 141st. The cyclist was ejected from the bike. Once on the ground, he was hit by a Ford sedan driving westbound on Powell.

Both drivers stayed at the scene. During police interviews, the driver of the Ford, Rory A. Morgan, was cited for driving under the influence of intoxicants.

The name of the motorcyclist has not been released pending an autopsy and notification of relatives.
